‘The Extremely History of Wessex’ was performed in April 1983 by the Sheep Worrying Theatre Company at the Bridgwater Art Centre and was toured by the cast to Glastonbury Assembly Rooms and to Stroud. Written by Brian Smedley and Eugene Byrne it also featured lyrics by Kim Newman with music by Smedley.

The story followed the history of Wessex through the eyes of Wilf, played by Eddie Grey, who suffers Roman, Viking, Norman and so on invasions for well over an hour.
